Interesting thoughts.

Tim and I felt something today that we could not explain when visiting the house. We both thought it was just the addition of the carpet and lawn had made it feel more homey but.... After thinking about it tonight for a bit I have come to the conclusion that our house has just aquired a spirit. A very positive one as I left feeling so alive and as if the world was beautiful. I had not felt it on previous visits. It was a very strange sensation but definitely palpable.

Our house has gone through a major transformation...

Dining
Pedestal sink in powder room....I have wanted one of these for a long time!
5 burner stove
Double oven
Kitchen almost complete.
Master shower
Master bath roman bath faucet
Master bed from hallway
Master from inside master
North side of loft
Looking other direction
North side of yard
panning
South side of yard
Today it really seemed like more of a home than a house. It is amazing what a yard and some carpet does for the place!

1 month to go!

The blue tiles are not as bright as the picture looks but you can get the idea. The countertops are covered with butcher paper to protect them but you can see some edges poking out in the foreground. Love the purple counters!....except they messed up and gave us bullnose (round) instead of the square edge I had asked for. I am waiting to hear back about what they are going to do about it. A stainless steel hood will go in the center.
Master Bath...
Shower
Finished fireplace. Looks even more purple in person. I love it too!

New Table...

I just bought this table at the Restoration Hardware outlet for $400 It is in nearly perfect condition. It was already on closeout for $499 and then they had a deal that if you spent $500 you got $100 off. I was very lucky in that I had seen the table two weeks ago and couldn't stop thinking about it. So I called today and they said someone had it on hold and then they said the hold had just dropped off 20min prior. Yay! Also the $100 deal was only this weekend so lucky me!
The table is 8 feet long (no leaves) and it can seat 8. Now I just have to find some chairs that match that aren't upholstered.

Fireplace Surround nearly done...

Half way there...

Well all of the siding is done....just need to finish the trim and doors. Yes the back of the house will be that light. Kind of weird but oh well. I guess it is "in" to do two tones...but it just doesn't really suit our home plan. Will post more pictures when the whole house is done. It looks like they have textured the inside but I will have to wait until this weekend to look and see. Excited!

Blue for a day...

Well they decided the blue we chose was too bright for the neighborhood....after approving it on paper. It was the greyist blue we could find. Oh well. We are going with grey and white. I still get my plum door so I guess that is good.....and secretly I am a bit relieved. Really it is Tim that is a huge blue fan. It will be good to bring color to the place by the plants we choose.
I will post pics as soon as it is done being painted.

Nice sunny day...

Went by the house. I took this picture of Kaia in our front dining area. I am looking forward to the amount of natural diffused light is in there for future photo shoots :)
Nice shot of Rainier. Not the best lens for this picture but it was the first nice day to get a good shot. It must be an optical illusion but in real life the mountain seems way bigger. Maybe it is the harvest moon theory.

House updates...

So the house is to be painted today or tomorrow depending on the weather. Yesterday we went by and the drywall is completely mud and taped and the house is drying out with the heat cranked. We talked to our neighbors for a while and we met the wife of another neighbor we had previously met. We saw a bunny hop across the road and I saw a red headed woodpecker in the back green belt. I love seeing the wildlife!

Colors have been approved...

Here is our front door...
Since we will be the only blue house in the neighborhood we had to have our colors approved. The light one will be on the back and sides. The darker blue will be on the front and the darkest (plum) will be the door.

Fireplace surround

The slate surround looks similar to this is in color scheme so it brings in the purples and greens but it is in the subway pattern instead of the pinwheel.

Drywall almost complete

We went by the house again today after an appointment to finish picking out our hard surfaces. The drywall is almost all done! When I was there they were finishing up the loft. That was way faster than I thought.
I was happy with some of the changes we made to our hard surfaces and feel much more confident it will look good. I changed the fireplace surround from glass squares to little slate tiles that look like this...

see above.

It is amazing how much lighter the house looks with drywall.

Can't wait to move in!

Siding Complete

Well the siding is complete and today the drywall started being put up. It is amazing how much drywall adds to the homey feel! Today we went to a Easter event at the community park. Even though it was raining pretty heavily they had quite the turn out. They had music playing, three tents for people to mingle under and tons of great food. We got added to our community email list and I have already been invited to "Ladies Night". I can't say enough how happy I am to be soon to be living in this new neighborhood!

Almost 2 months in...

Our house unpainted...Still have a bit more work to do on the siding but will probably be completely done in a day or two at the most. You can click on the picture to see it in detail. back patio area.
Insulation is in.
All electrical and plumbing are done. They will be turning the furnace on tomorrow full blast. Drywall will be started on Monday.
Wow! I am so excited.
We locked our rate a little over a week ago which feels really good. We are happy with our loan and rate.
We met more neighbors last weekend as we went out and played in the park in the nice weather.
We found out there are two doctors in the neighborhood, which is good to know if there was ever a meltdown of all emergency services/natural disaster. :) At the last house I knew we could always walk to Evergreen Hospital. Here we would have to walk a couple days to get to a Hospital.
This weekend we are going to attend their Easter egg hunt in the park.
I am really excited and can't wait to move in!
