Building week 1

Our new house broke ground on Friday. Friday Feb. 13th. We went yesterday to take a couple photos because we are planning on doing some time lapse photography as it is being built. Everytime I visit this neighborhood I am amazed by the neighborly feel. We had already met the husband of the couple who are out direct neighbors before we decided to buy. This was back two days before Thanksgiving. He was planning on moving in the next day and was finishing up some of his own painting so he graciously let us in to see his new home. He was so proud of how he had customized his bathroom and had so many nice things to say about CamWest (the builder). Yesterday as we had parked in front of our lot he and his wife came out and we talked for quite a while. They are so nice. They are probably a little older than my parents (in their 50's). The wife, Fran, stays home and takes care of her granddaughter 3 days a week who is 18months. They also have another granddaughter who is 4 but goes to preschool. The husband, Gary, works at Boeing. As we were standing outside talking to them the neighbor across the street came out as he was taking his daughter to the park. His name was Steve and he works at Microsoft (potential carpooler for Tim :)). Their daughter Marley is less than a month younger than Kaia! Very cute and smart girl. Both neighbors pointed out two other stay at home moms very close to our house that also have kids in the same age range. I am so impressed and look forward to getting to know everyone better. I love that people are out and about and talking to one another. Fran even though she is older was so nice and I found talking to her very easy.
